Office Procedures

Allergy Skin Testing:

This procedure is normally done on your first visit with us. To have this test, the patient must be off all antihistamines 5 days prior to the appointment. Our office tests for dust mites, cat, dog, tree pollen, weed pollen, grass pollen, cockroach, feathers, mold spores and foods. The test takes 20 minutes and Dr. Giannobile will go over the results of the test before you leave that day. We use a plastic device that barely scratches the service of the skin. No needles are involved in the test. This test helps us to identify specifically what you or your child is allergic to. With this information, Dr. Giannobile is able to instruct you on avoidance measures and prescribe the correct medications.
Spirometry:

This is a lung function test that is done in the office to test for asthma. This test gives us specific information about you or your child's lung function so that we can make sure that current asthma treatment is working so that you are breathing well.

Allergy Shots:

Allergy shots are given in the office to desensitize you to allergens that you are allergic to. The allergy shots are prepared specifically for you or your child based on your allergy skin test results. This therapy has been shown to be effective in the treatment of allergic rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, allergic asthma and venom allergy to certain stinging insects.
